Following Montreal’s Fashion Week, Dane Richards is proud to independently present his debut runway presentation for Autumn/Winter 2010. Inspired by the small-town seascape of his childhood home, this full-length collection  is reminiscent of the transiting forms of natural objects.
Creations of black fringe with shocks of color remember seaweed sprawled over the smooth and jagged edges of beach rocks and cliffs. Like sea mammal skins and furs bouncing back to life after being bathed in acid rain. In turn, the garments themselves move like elegant anemones contracting and releasing in polluted waters. Part luxury mop; part woven filter.   The tension between sprawling, natural monsters and industry’s succinct linear creations are transformed into a wearable collection of garments with an androgynous practicality that feels uneasy, yet is perfectly at ease on the streets of today.
Being showcased at Montreal’s Eastern Bloc, this highly anticipated, refreshing series reflects a distinct identity through an unscathed exploration into silhouette, tactility and texture.     For further information, please contact : monumentalpr@gmail.com View high resolution
