LA FETE
Bio: 25 years old Emilie Brunet is the designer behind LA FETE. In 2008, her degree in communications and political science in hand, she decided to follow her instincts and bring to life the fashion ideas that were keeping her awake at night. She also believes world politics deserve to be discussed in style.
Collection: LA FETE believes that when the boundaries between genres disappear, fashion goes forward. Arrogant and a little tomboy, LA FETE is made for people who are creative and want to look the best for what they do. LA FETE takes inspiration from Montréal, with an urban attitude and a certain nonchalance, but also optimism.

Contradict
Bio: Rachel J. Chan was born in Toronto, where, in high school, two years of fashion design lessons launched her desire to become a designer. Currently based out of Montreal where she has recently completed her studies in women’s fashion design at LaSalle College, Chan is in the process of continuing her education in menswear and working with designer Travis Taddeo. Chan specializes in dresses, streetwear and clubwear.
Collection: A play and contrast of opposites. Shoulders are obnoxious and strong. Hemlines are flowy and light. The collection has some futuristic aspects but still has soft lines. Its a collection that really brings out your perception. It could be lighting the darkness, or the darkness creeping into the light.

Bio: Charlotte likes simplicity, laughing, creating, sharing, developing and above all, keeping busy. When she’s not “working for the weekend” she’s writing for Hearty Magazine, styling, starting tshirts lines (loverswin.ca), blogging (loverswin.blogspot.com) and listening to loud music.
Collection: Intended for a multifaceted rock youth culture blossoming in professional, mature and positive environments.

Betina Lou
Bio: Marie-Eve Emond is a Montreal fashion designer. After gaining nearly 10 years of experience with various fashion companies, she launches the line Betina Lou in 2009. A graduate of LaSalle College in Fashion Design, Marie-Eve has also completed a university degree in management and fashion design at the School of Fashion in Montreal. Her passion for fine cuts and beautiful fabrics have earned the brand a nomination in the category “Best Outerwear Designer of the Year” for the Fashion Export Awards. She has distribution in Canada, the United States, England and Japan. She also is part of the team at Mackage for 6 years as an assistant designer and production manager.
Collection: Betina Lou, a ready-to-wear collection based in Montreal, finds inspiration in the classics of women’s wear, in the style that doesn’t go out of fashion and in the quality of the fabrics. The silhouettes are influenced by feminity, elegance and sobriety brought forth by the great french designers of the middle of the twentieth century, while being suited for a urban and professional clientèle.

Norwegian Wood
Bio: Angie Johnson was born and raised in an exceptionally small town in rural Manitoba. In her late teens she moved into the city of Winnipeg to learn the fine art of the needletrade industry at the University of Manitoba. After graduating and working for a few years in the industry. Johnson moved to Montreal to continue her design career. She started out as an assistant designer and worked her way up through the ranks, eventually ending up as a head designer for a local denim company. In 2008 Johnson decided to take the plunge and work on her own line full time, and Norwegian Wood was born.
Collection: After more than 10 years of creating mini-collections on the side in her spare time, Johnson could finally give her ideas the full attention they deserved. Angie is happy to say that Norwegian Wood is available both online (www.iheartnorwegianwood.etsy.com) and in a growing number of independent boutiques throughout Canada, the US and Europe, and will be part of the Topshop (Oxford Circus) EDIT program this fall, which features new design talent from around the world. For her Fashion POP collection Johnson decided to stick to a tight palette of black and greys with pops of acid yellow and soft powder blue, showcasing a wide variety of textures and silhouettes within this restrained palette. Norwegian Wood staples such as elastic harnesses, fringe detailing and luxe leggings compliment new ideas in this mini-collection.

behind the scenes of the Fashion Pop fitting! read about the designers here. (uploaded from my blackberry- pardon the bad quality!)
I worked as a production assistant for the Salon des Arts at Osheaga meaning that albeit some coordinating and a few tasks, my job consisted of napping the sun and enjoying some great bands from the side lines, keeping hydrated and having long conversations in the catering tent. Above are some photos I took during the festival.
The highlights included eavesdropping on Lykke Li vocalising with her trailer door open and thinking I would just enjoy Yeah Yeah Yeahs set for the nostalgical factor, but then chocking up when they performed Maps and turning to see my usually blazé friend echoing my every feeling.
